Graduate Studies
The graduate certificate in African and African diaspora studies is open to students who are already enrolled in a graduate discipline and want to take courses in African and African diaspora studies to complement their graduate studies or to enhance their career interest. Courses are offered in the humanities, social sciences and health. The program will offer opportunities to former or aspiring members of the Peace Corps in Africa or its diaspora who may need the certificate in order to attain a knowledge about areas and cultures where they have lived or plan to live. Teachers, especially K-12, requiring an advanced diploma in diversity education or competence in the teaching of African and African American studies, will find this program very attractive.
Certificate Requirements
Eighteen credit hours of course work including one core course (3 credits), three courses (9 credits) from the concentrations, one elective course (3 credits) and a capstone project (3 credits) are required.
